The Pledged Securities Mortgage
Since a well structured mortgage is undeniably one of the most important aspects of debt management, Raymond James Bank offers a variety of residential mortgages to meet a broad range of client needs. One of the more versatile programs available is the Pledged Securities Mortgage.1
Best suited for clients with a well structured and diversified investment portfolio, the Pledged Securities Mortgage uses a combined pledge of real estate and margin-eligible securities in the clients' Raymond James investment account. This allows clients to finance up to 100% of the purchase price of a primary home, secondary home or residential investment property. Other benefits include:
- The need for a down payment is eliminated with 100% financing, making investment liquidation (and potential capital gains taxes) unnecessary.2
- Interest is potentially tax deductible.2
- No private mortgage insurance (PMI) required with 100% financing.
- Clients can assist qualified family members with the purchase of a home by pledging margin-eligible securities held in a Raymond James investment account.3

1The Pledged Securities Mortgage may not be for everyone. A loan client may be at risk of losing money in their collateral account due to market volatility. This may require the deposit of additional equity into the collateral account, which could result in further losses. Though Raymond James Bank will typically contact the client or their financial advisor prior to liquidating pledged assets, Raymond James Bank reserves the right to sell pledged assets of its choosing without contacting the client, if needed to maintain equity in the collateral account. Trading in the collateral account is permissible provided that minimum balance requirements are maintained. In addition to regular closing costs, an annual fee may be charged by Raymond James & Associates, Inc. for manual administration of the pledge accounts.
